Job Summary - Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas in the kitchen.
Duties & Responsibilities - Process all dirty dishes through the dishwasher; remove and organize all clean dishes in kitchen areas; transport trash out of the kitchen daily; mop the assigned kitchen areas daily; keep all pots clean for the kitchen department; knowledge of handling chemicals and cleaners; keep general work areas, equipment and storage units clean and sanitized; chill, store and rotate (FIFO) food items properly; practice proper sanitation and food handling procedures, including frequent hand washing; follow all Health Department food safety and sanitation policies; inspect the food area for any foreign objects on the floor. If a foreign object is found, you must ensure it is immediately removed; this inspection will be conducted at approximately 30-minute intervals; clean any safety hazards immediately; practice all safety guidelines daily; report any maintenance issues promptly; keep work area clean and safe at all times; assist co-workers when time allows; communicate daily activity to co-workers and supervisors. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Ability to stand for long periods of time is essential; ability to lift, push, pull and reach is required; must be able to work in humid and cold temperatures; must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors; must be able to wear sanitary gloves when required; must have a basic knowledge of health regulations and be in possession of a current Health Card; requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; requires the ability to follow directions from a supervisor; requires dependable attendance and the ability to appear for work on time; requires the ability to follow directions; requires the ability to interact effectively with co-workers; requires the ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures; requires the ability to accept constructive criticism.
